Nottingham High School may have been in existence for only a quarter of a century, but the Northstars have had plenty of fine sports moments.

To celebrate that fact, Nottingham recently inducted its inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame class.

The athletes honored were softball star Jennifer LoPresti-Such, who graduated from Nottingham in 1987; soccer standout Erin (Wingerter) Gonzalez, who graduated in 1990; baseball star Levi Miskolczi, who graduated in 1993; softball standout Erin Layton, who graduated in 1994; track and field star Jacqueline Davis, who graduated in 1995; as well as wrestling standout Joe Pollard, who graduated in 1997.

They were inducted along with former track coach Arlander “A.W.” Weathersby, who led his teams for two decades from 1982-2002, and former softball coach Elaine Pittaro, who coached the Northstars from 1982-89.

Pittaro and LoPresti-Such also were honored with their teammates from the 1987 softball squad, which became the first Nottingham team to win a state championship.

Former athletic director Ray Frascella was inducted and so was special contributor Wes Kirkpatrick.

A special area for the Athletic Hall of Fame has been set up along the outer wall of the Northstars’ gymnasium. Each year a plaque with a list of inductees will be added to the wooden casing. Alongside, there is another plaque commemorating the numerous sponsors who helped make the Nottingham Athletic Hall of Fame a reality and plan to continue to do so in the future.
