DANIEL BURNSTON | CLASS OF '01

INDUCTED: SEPTEMBER 30, 2011

Dan Burnston put Northstar hockey on the map with his leadership and talent. He led the Northstars to a record-high 13 wins in a season and helped them to qualify for the State Tournament for the first time in school history. He set a new all-time career scoring record of 132 points, a record that was broken in 2011.

In the 2000-01 season, he scored 45 goals and had a total of 80 points, establishing two all-time records. He also tied the record for points in a game with seven. He finished third in scoring among New Jersey high school varsity hockey players in the state in that same year. Year-end honors included Dan being named to the CVC first team, the NJ High School Senior All-Star Team and the New Jersey Devils high school player of the month, among others.

In addition, Dan played tennis for four years and was MIP in 1998-99 and team captain in 2000-01.

After graduation, Dan played two seasons for the Boston Jr. Blackhawks Ice Hockey Club, a highly-competitive college level team. In 2003 he attended Rutgers University and received a BA in Philosophy. He then received a Masters Degree in philosophy at Georgia State University and is now in a PhD program at the University of California at San Diego.
