For a three-year period, the center of Mercer County golf was Nottingham High School.
The Nottingham Golf Team won three consecutive Colonial Valley Conference Championships and Mercer County Tournament Championships from 1989
to 1991.
On May 21, 1990, the Nottingham Golf Team, led by coach Bob Fitzsimmons, achieved its greatest glory at the
NJ State Tournament held at Wild Oaks Country Club. Despite playing in poor weather
conditions, the 1990 team claimed a 4-stroke victory and was crowned as overall NJ State Champions.
They remain the only Nottingham High School team to ever achieve this honor.
Team members included: Keith Cochran, Steven Fowler, Gene Gendek, Artie Scott,
Paul Skwarek, Vince Skwarek, and Brian Tripp.
