Under the direction of head coach Elaine Pittaro and assistant coaches Mae Hart, Peg Howell,
and Glenn Sliker, the 1987 Varsity Softball team rolled to a final record of 23-4.
The team captured the Valley Divison championship and was the Mercer County Tournament Champions.
In the State Tournament, the team won the Central Jersey Group III title with a 1-0 victory over
cross-town rival Steinert High School. In the Group III Finals, the team emerged with a 2-1 victory
over Mendham to become the first State Champions in the history of Nottingham High School.
